How do scholarship awards affect my Federal Financial Aid award?
Scholarships count toward your financial need; therefore, other need-based aid (grants, subsidized loans, etc) may have to be reduced so that you are not in an over-award status. A Cost of Education budget is determined for each student and according to Federal Regulations the university cannot exceed this budget. Additionally, if you are an athlete, the NCAA has regulations and guidelines that we have to follow. It is imperative that you notify One Stop Student Services if you are receiving additional funding. The scholarship award might affect your Federal Financial Aid and our office must adjust the financial aid award offer. This might include deleting an already awarded program or reducing the dollar amount offered.
