How do retreats get on the calendar?
The coordinator for peace education works to get peace retreats on the calendar. Usually we schedule retreats five months to a year in advance of the date. The coordinator responds to requests for peace education activities, and also contacts congregations and districts suggesting that they consider supporting a peace retreat in their area. Peace retreat leaders are fundamental in raising awareness of and enthusiasm for peace retreats within their congregations and networks. One way to get people excited about peace retreats is to offer an “appetizer”—a workshop during Sunday school or a church conference.
