Fish do produce carbon dioxide, but not nearly enough to support a bunch of plants. You can get CO2 diffusers, or even make one yourself fairly easily, but these can alter your pH and alkalinity, which is obviously a bad thing. Seachem makes products to add CO2 to your water without screwing with the pH and alkalinity.
