Question: I definitely know I’m ready for beauty school, but I don’t know whether I should apply to a private designer academy or a community college program. Can you help me? Answer: Figuring out which cosmetology school will suit you is a difficult task, for sure! I personally went to the community college in my area because I knew I’d be taking the same licensing exam as private school students and I had already paid for four years of college. At community college I received aid for my tuition, I could work flexibly enough to accommodate a full-time class schedule, and I didn’t mind the floor tiles coming up or the chipped counter tops. Also, I enjoy school enough to know that I’d do the homework and come out at the top of my class. I did discover from some of my classmates that they didn’t receive enough individual attention and sometimes didn’t fully understand what we were doing.
