How do problems with damp occur in the attic?
– If there is insufficient general ventilation in the house and if there are openings in the attic joist level, the risk of damp air penetrating the attic and causing increased relative humidity, and in the worst case even condensation, increases. – When the roof loses heat after, for example, being heated by the sunlight during the day, this cooling down can lead to condensation on the inside of the roof when the relative humidity increases. Water drops can build up and in some cases run down the inside of the roof. – Ventilating an attic space too much can also cause problems, because the air in the attic is cooled by the colder outside air and then the condensation on the cold roof increases. What rectifies the problem? – Seal the attic floor joists and ventilate the residential space, not least the wet areas, to reduce the moisture in the air that flows to the attic space. – Install a permanent installation for dehumidification, an attic drier, in the attic space.
