HOW DO PRESBYTERIANS UNDERSTAND BAPTISM?

0

Baptism is a sign and seal of God’s covenant by which a person is admitted into the visible church. In the case of an adult or child, baptism looks back to the time when God’s covenant was fulfilled in his life and he became a believer in Jesus Christ. In the case of an infant, it represents the commitment of a parent(s) to nurture the child in accordance with the Christian faith. It also affirms the reality that God welcomes infants to the Kingdom of God, even as we wait for the child to confirm their faith at a later time and receive Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism represents the washing away of our sins and a vow to serve and support the church.
