How do prepaid phones work? ?

Prepaid phones work kind of like the gas tank in your car. You put gas in, you drive until you need more fuel, and you refuel. The only real difference is that gas in your tank really doesn’t expire. Pre-paid minutes usually expire after a given amount of time, so you have to keep on top of it to make sure they don’t. These types of phones are generally more expensive per minute to use, but do prevent the receiving of a huge phone bill at the end of the month. You can’t go over your minutes if you have a pre-paid account… I’d recommend it to someone who doesn’t make a lot of money, and needs a cell-phone. Just remember that you’re charged for every little thing.

Prepaid phones provide the basic services of regular cell phones the cost per minute serious disadvantage Expiring minutes and service — The minutes you buy for your prepaid cell phone may come with an expiration date of 30 or 90 days. If so, you’ll lose them if you don’t use them by then. You also may need to buy minutes regularly to extend the activation period. Buying 60 minutes for $20, for example, might extend your service for another two months Unexpected fees — With a prepaid cell phone, you won’t pay monthly taxes or termination fees as with traditional plans, but you may find other unexpected fees — or higher fees than you’d expect for extra services. You may be charged a daily access fee of 99 cents to $2 for days you use the service or for every day.

you purchase a phone that supports prepaid service. then you have to buy minutes to use. Some phones charge an access fee in addition to the actual miutes you use. for example, you may pt $10 on your phone and maybe your per minute rate is 10 cents. You might have to pay 1.00 for everyday you use the phone. I think boost is pretty good. I thin its 20 cents per minute regular, 10 cents if you are calling another boost person and one dollar to use the walkie talkie. You get unlimited use of the chirp for 24 hours for that dollar and you can chirp anyone with boost or nextel. it’s nice. I used to have it. I would say you should get it if you dont think you will be able to make a payment on your phone bill every month. If you think you can but your not sure, you can do tmobile. They have a prepaid plan. so you get a set amount of daytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends. you also have alot of options, and if you cant afford to pay the bill you can always just do regular prepaid.
