How do people make long skid marks?
A rapid acceleration – either positive or negative. That is, either you can be traveling very fast and slow down quickly or you can be traveling very slowly (which includes being stopped) and attempt to speed up very quickly. You can probably get longer skid marks on speeding up because as long as you can keep the wheels spinning sufficiently fast, you will continue to create a mark whereas when slowing down you have a fixed amount of kinetic energy to dissipate.
