How do people get chrome disease?
hi cheyenne, I am a female crohn’s pt. dxed at the age of 12. It is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the gut as a foreign body thus causing inflammation. It is not caused by sharing needles, fooling around, or is contagious. For more updated information, check out the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s site. They have tons of information ranging from how it’s dxed, how it’s treated, newer meds, surgery, diet, Camp Oasis for kids w/IBD, as well as finding a local support group near him. CCFA has a live chat, a hotline, and a forum where he can post questions to others like himself. The chat and hotline are run by healthcare experts well versed in Crohn’s. My heart goes out to him as it can be difficult to deal with as a teenager in high school. There are newer meds out there to treat it like Remicade, Humira, 6MP, Entocort, Imuran, and methotrexate. I wish him a speedy remission.
