How do partnership prisons ease overcrowding?
Having government build more prisons to relieve overcrowding is expensive and is not an immediate solution to an urgent problem. It’s a process that can take government years to complete. But CCA is ready to assist right now. For example, when one state had a sudden need for more capacity, CCA was fully prepared. We immediately increased capacity at a CCA facility for more than 1,400 inmates. This saved the state system from costly federal fines and gave them time to develop their own long-term corrections plan.
