How Do Overseas Filipino Worker Celebrate Mothers Day?
OFW is a short cut terminology for Overseas Filipino Worker which is commonly referred to us, Filipinos working abroad. We are contracted to work outside our home country for one year, two years or three years. On the average we had to complete our one year contract before we could take an annual vacation. This is really quite hard for a family oriented people like us. You might wonder how we celebrate Mother’s Day considering we are not with our families and loved ones. In our country, the Philippines, we celebrate it every second Sunday for the month of May. Yes, as an OFW, we do celebrate it even it is difficult for us because we are away from her for a long time.
