How do other organisations manage to add disclaimers automatically?
Almost all organisations that add disclaimers automatically to outgoing e-mail messages insist on their staff using a specific e-mail package, and exert a high level of control over how the package is configured. At MMU, GroupWise is fully supported and is funded as part of the Standard Platform. However some departments or individuals choose to use other e-mail packages, albeit without the support of the IS teams. Since we need to take account of the variety of e-mail packages, we cannot rely on central configuration of those packages to add the disclaimer automatically, as many other organisations do.
