How Do Open Classroom Students Score On Statewide Standardized Tests?
Test scores for Open Classroom are not routinely broken out from Conejo Elementary School as a whole, which includes a large population of E.S.L. (English as a Second Language) as well as transient students. While we know our students do well, our definition of success is not based on published test scores as that is not the type of learning we encourage. While promoting a solid foundation of basic core knowledge, the emphasis in Open Classroom is on actively developing both creative and critical thought while teaching life skills how to think, how to communicate constructively, how to ask good questions, how to problem solve. Open Classroom graduates are successful because they love learning, because they are trained to be responsible, because they are expected to master the material presented to them, and because their parents are committed to and involved in their education.
