How do ocean bottom fish survive the strong water pressure?
Creatures evolved within the material composition and conditions of their environment. At the bottom of the ocean, gases are easily dissolved by substrate liquids like how we put carbonation in soda, so they breathe liquid the same way we breathe air. Gases aside, they are composed of the same solids and liquids as the rest of us, albeit differently adapted.
