How do non-profit salaries work?
I’m not sure I understand your question. The leadership of the non-profit gets to decide how salaries work. People can be salaries, paid bu the hour, or compensated some other way (e.g., “commission” based on adoptions). The main restriction is to ensure that labor laws are not violated. I would not recommend going with variable compensation, however. While it seems like a good thing, it’s difficult to manage, puts a good deal of risk on the employee, and can lead to disputes. I recommend a fixed salary for full-time employees of an organization like this. If the organization doesn’t do well, then that salary will need to be revisited, say in 6 months.
