How do NJSs Staff make their picks, and what advantage do they hold over other gamers (if any)?
The NJS Staff, who are also participants in most of the pools, submit their picks to each other (see RULES page for more detail) simultaneously. Their picks will be posted on the Picks link along with all others who submit their picks “timely” prior to kickoff of the first game. Unfortunately, there is little to nothing that can be done to prevent them from seeing other gamer’s picks prior to making their own. Gamer’s are encouraged to withhold their picks until 9:00pm Saturday for Sunday games, which is the deadline for the Staff to submit their picks. This is a 3 hour disadvantage for the Staff meant to offset any advantage they might gain by seeing other gamer’s picks before making their own, although whether that is actually an advantage or not is highly debatable. You also have the right to request any of the No Joy Sports staff’s picks when your picks are made. If their picks are not ready, you can wait till they are to make yours.
