How do native americans live in reservation?
I’ve lived on a couple reservations, accounting for more than half of my life. During the years that I did not live on a reservation I always returned home multiple times a year. With that preface I can tell you that we live a lot like everyone else in America does. Generally, reservations have a lower per capita income than the rest of America so there are socio-economic differences that are pretty glaring. The biggest difference is simply living in a community where your ancestors lived, where your relatives continue to live and where future generations will live for many years to come. Reservations allow tribes greater opportunity to preserve their tribal languages, customs and traditions. I didn’t realize it when I lived on the reservation as a child but once I left I quickly learned that much of reservation life/living is steeped in tradition.
