How do modern-day citizens of Japan feel about the atomic bombs that were dropped on them?

hello i’d hope that the modern day japanese are mature enough to realise that the wheel turned, and the atrocities and wars they commited came back to haunt them … deservedly so R. J. Rummel, a professor of political science at the University of Hawaii, states that between 1937 and 1945, the Japanese military murdered from nearly 3,000,000 to over 10,000,000 people, most probably 6,000,000 Chinese, Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos, and Indochinese, among others, including Western prisoners of war. This democide was due to a morally bankrupt political and military strategy, military expediency and custom, and national culture.”According to Rummel, in China alone, during 1937-45, approximately 3.9 million Chinese were killed, mostly civilians, as a direct result of the Japanese operations and 10.2 millions in the course of the war The Nanking Massacre, commonly known as the Rape of Nanking, was an infamous war crime committed by the Japanese military in Nanjing – 200 000 civilians kille

Firstly I’m sorry but can’t provide much of an answer to your question, I know generally that most are rather annoyed still…bit of an understatement. What really annoys me is people ignorance when it comes to dropping the atomic bomb. After reading a couple of answers I have to say more… Unfortunately dropping the atomic bomb was the lesser of two evils and was necessary. Anybody who thinks otherwise is bias, stupid, or doesn’t know much on the subject. It is a shame that so many innocent civilians had to die but during ww2 2/3rds of the worlds population was involved in the war, from working in a bomb factory to fighting on the front line. It was a much different time than today and cannot be compared. The Japanese killed millions of innocent civilians in some of the most inhumane ways. The Japanese were at the time vicious bastards, more so than Germany in my opinion. Sure Germany had death camps which obviously is horrible but Japanese forces were advised to bomb medic ships and

I don’t know what the Japanese think. But if I were them I would be wondering why innocent civilians had to pay for the horrible crimes and stupid mistakes committed by their government. I would be wondering why a great nation like the US would find it necessary to kill so many women, children, and infants who did nothing to deserve it. I would be wondering how the US would react if other nations did the same thing, for example the Soviets dropping A-bombs on Germany to shorten the war, save the lives of Russian soldiers on the Eastern Front, get revenge for all the Russians killed by the German Army, and punish German civilians for Hitler’s crimes. Or for that matter, why can’t all nations use the a-bomb if they feel the ends justify the meanrs?
