How do mexican cities reflect on spanish culture?
Not all mexican cities reflect spanish culture but a large number do. Where my family is from (Altos de Jalisco region), there is a very strong Spanish influence. It is evident in the following: 1) Its people (A very large proportion are primarily white with little to no native american admixture). They are conservative and religious. 2) Architecture. Colonial style architecture with most towns having a plaza, church, and government buiding as its main square. 3) Religion. Celebration of the patron saint or Virgin with a 9-16 day festival, which includes parades, bull fights, horse racing, theatre, fairs etc., activities which were imported by the Spanish; 4) Food. Most modern day Mexican food is of mestizo (mixed euro/native) extraction. The Spanish contribution to the food of the region includes beef, lamb, pork, goat, cheese, egg, certain fruits and vegetables, preparation methods (e.i. deep frying, steaming, grilling), the distillation process of tequila, etc. 5) Transportation (pr
