How do members of parliament get publicity?
All ministers and many members and senators have press or media officers on their staff. The Prime Minister has a dedicated media office responsible for liaising with the press. Media officers write press releases and arrange press conferences so that members of parliament can get publicity by using the press to win support for themselves, their party or their ideas for programs. Ministers and members and senators also contact journalists with stories and information hoping to get good publicity for themselves and their causes.
