How do melt candy caramel for caramel apples?
If you’re making caramel apples, you should melt it in a small crock pot or in a double boiler. If you don’t have a double boiler you can make one by putting water in a saucepan and put another saucepan or a bowl on top of it (not touching the bottom). Heat it over hot (not boiling) water. At the least you could microwave it, on 50% power, a minute at a time. Take it out to stir it after a minute has passed, put it back in for another minute and repeat. Caramel is just sugar so it burns really easily.
