How do Medicare managed care plans work when an individual has Medicaid?
A. While an individual can enroll in a Medicare HMO if he/she has Medicare and Medicaid, he/she does not need to. As long as he/she visits doctors who accept Original Medicare and Medicaid, all of his/her health care costs will be covered. But if he/shewould like to join a managed care plan, he/she can only join a Medicare HMO or PPO, not a Medicaid HMO.
