How do Lylandi Cypress trees compare to Deodor Cedars in growth habits, patterns, and length of natural life?

0

Leylandii Cypress have a more compact growth habit while Deodar Cedar over the years will develope open space between the branches on mature trees. Both are fast growing though Leylandii Cypress may be a bit faster. Both are super insect, fungus, and disease resistant. Though it’s likely you’ll have some problems with bag worms with both trees. But that’s where being a fast growing tree helps because they’ll both out grow this problem. But bag worms should be hand picked off small/young trees. Deodar Cedars become picturistic over time and make great looking specimen trees while Leylandii Cypress are best used as privacy screening and windbreak. The branches of Deodar Cedars become thick and wide while branches of Leylandii Cypress remain thin, narrow and grow horizontally from usually a single trunk. Both are long-lived but if I were to pick which one is longer I’d go with Deodar Cedar. Here’s an old specimen of a Deodar Cedar
