How do Lutein and Zeaxanthin help promote eye health?
Lutein and Zeaxanthin are members of the xanthopyll class of carotenoids. They are found in the macula of the human retina, as well as the crystalline lens. Just like other carotenoids, Lutein and Zeaxanthin, act as antioxidants, protecting cells against the damaging effects of free radicals and as a filter in light-sensitive tissues, such as the macula, lens, and retina.
