How do lawyers feel when they represent guilty people who commit murders and rapes…etc?

In becoming a lawyer, you are aware that our laws state that everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty and everyone is entitled to representation. It is up to the state to prove guilt. It is their sworn duty to provide the best defense they can whether they know the person is guilty or not. Many times it becomes a matter of getting the lightest sentence possible for the crime or in trying to prevent the death penalty. EDIT: People who become lawyers have to deal with the reality that they may be defending people who are guilty before they decide to become lawyers. If it bothers them to do so, they should not have become lawyers in the first place. If a case has a bad effect on them, they are not obligated to take it. They have to be able to feel they can do their job to the best of their ability or not take the case.
