How do law and journalism work together?

Journalism provides people with the laymen version of law. Most people wouldn’t be able to understand law if they had to read it in its original form.

I can only answer from one perspective. Law enforcement and journalism. But here goes… how do law and journalism work together? Not very well… Well, as long as we (law enforcement) meet the medias desire to get more viewers/readers, then occasionally we can get something productive done. But other than that, its a very strained relationship. Why? In my experience, todays journalists no longer report “just the facts.” They come to an interview or scene with an agenda. Sadly, it appears that the agenda is normally just to cause an uproar. I could almost forgive someone with a social or political agenda, but it doesn’t even appear to reach to that level. For a long time now, it just appears to be a desire for ratings. You bring them information on a rash of burglaries or another criminal trend going on, and if you are lucky it might show up as a blurb under the fold on the back page (smaller than the carwash advertisement next to it.) The other problem, that leads to a general mistrus

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
