How do Jewish doctors solve the ethical dilemma of visiting patients on the Sabbath?

0

Acccording to Jewish law, preservation of life overrides the restrictions of the Sabbath. A Jewish doctor would be best qualified to determine what he/ she may or may not do for a patient on the Sabbath. If there are duties that the dr. anticipates having to perform on the Sabbath that are not associated with preservation of life, he would pre-arrange a non-Jewish locum. In Israel, the religious hospitals have these systems in place.
