How do interrupts work in Fifth Edition rules?
Interrupts that target spells and effects can only target the spell or effect they actually interrupt. For example, I cast Fireball, and you interrupt the Fireball to cast Counterspell. I could interrupt the Counterspell with Fork, but then I would have to target the Counterspell, and Fork can’t target interrupts. Instead I can respond to Counterspell with Fork and add it to the batch that interrupts the Fireball. Notice that I can still only respond to an interrupt with an interrupt. Interrupts that target permanents rather than spells or effects are now played as instants.
