How do interns select their rotations for internship?
We tailor our internship program to meet the needs of each intern. Interns are expected to develop a well-balanced rotation rather than one that is narrowly focused. Interns are given considerable latitude in their choice of specific rotations, provided consideration is paid to any training deficiencies and future career development. During orientation week, interns meet with the Training Director and Assistant Training to review their educational preparation and consider their career plans. Interns then hear presentations from the supervising psychologists who describe their rotations in depth and what training experiences each rotation offers. Afterwards, the intern cohort meets together to come up with several solutions of who gets which rotation at what time. Each year we have used this selection method, interns have developed their own process for rotation selection and are very satisfied with their rotation selection.
