How do intelligence services or the military fit into solving economic problems?
– The next Croatian President, the third President in the Croatian history, must make the country economically free and independent. By this I mean independency in terms of its external debt and inability to finance own obligations from current work. This is a new dimension and that is why the president must use his/her constitutional authorities and constantly supervise the functioning of all elements of the system, from stopping cattle smuggling in Slavonia to monitoring of capital flow, not to be surprised again by something similar to “Dukat” episode. We must not learn from the newspapers that “Dukat” is on sale or that there is a problem with “Podravka”, that somebody has been systematically endangering the liquidity of a large system such as “Podravka”. Somebody from the intelligence service should have had reacted to it.
