How Do I Zip Files With Pkzip?

0

PKZIP lets you compress not only files to make them smaller in size, but also folders. The utility, originally for MS-DOS systems, is part of the PKWARE series of programs which also includes PKUNZIP—a program that extracts files compressed by PKZIP. PKZIP quickly compacts files and folders so you can store them on your computer, email or save the compressed files/folders on a floppy disc or CD/DVD. PKZIP for Windows uses a menu-based system instead of the DOS command line. Open PKZIP by clicking on the program’s name from the “All Programs” menu. Click “File,” “New.” The Save As dialog box will open. Navigate to the directory where you want to save the compressed file or folder–“My Documents,” “Desktop” or another directory. Enter a name for the compressed file or folder in the box next to the wording “File name.” Click “Save.” The Add Files dialog box will open. Select the file(s) you want to compress by clicking once on the file name. Click the “Add Files” icon once you are done.
