How do I write a thesis statement for a mini-biography on Harriet Beecher Stowe?
A thesis statement should captivate your audience into wanting to know more about your subject. I would maybe do something along the lines of “Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ gave a view of slavery in the South from an abused slave’s eyes and opened the eyes of Northerners who were ignorant about what slavery was like, making them more determined to stop this abomination.” I thought of that in about a minute and a half, but that’s a good starting point. You should spend a good amount of time developing your thesis and making it excellent because if your teacher is anything like my English teacher, your thesis will account for part of the grade for your paper.
