How do i work out percentages to fractions i.e 24%?
percentages are just numbers out of 100 e.g. 24% = 24/100 then you can do things to them like cancelling them down… 24/100 = 12/50 = 6/25 if you get a percentage with decimals like 33.4%, you may need to multiply both the denominator and numerator by a factor to get a whole number for the numerator. e.g. 33.4/100 * 5/5 = 662/500 then you can cancel things down e.g. 662/500 = 331/250 In an ideal world, you get a calculator and be able to divide the numerator by the denominator to get a decimal answer which you can multiply by a 100 to give you a percentage. e.g. 3/8 = 0.375 –> 0.375*100 = 37.5% However, life is not always that kind so you may want to memorise the more common fractions and their percentages: thirds (1/3, 2/3) quarters (1/4, 2/4, 3/4) fifths (1/, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5) tenths (1/10, 2/10…
