How do i wean off paxil?
Please ask your physician how to wean off of the ssri (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) antidepressant, paxil. The ssri’s are not supposed to have the same addictiveness as the benzo’s such as xanax, ativan, valium and klonopin, but ssri’s are still addictive and should not be stopped abruptly either as you seem to realize. So please do call your dr’s office and ask what dosage to continue taking and for how long. I’m really glad that you are feeling so much better. Please remember that if one has an actual mental health diagnosis such as clinical depression or panic disorder, that the symptoms may come back after stopping the medication and consider resuming the med if that should happen after talking with one’s physician. Counseling (by a licensed therapist) can help one to learn to cope with daily stressors as well.
