How do I wean my kittens from formula milk?
Hi there, firstly, well done for rescuing these babies. Now what you have to do is, keep feeding these kittens as you are doing. After about 1 week depending on their weight, you can start to give them more baby milk and at longer intervals. But you must always go by what it says on the tin, I.E. weight to measurement of milk etc. Once these babies get to around the 3-4 week mark, what to do is, make some runny scrambled egg, put a big knob of butter in and some evaporated milk. Let it cool and put it down to them, put their wee noses into it, (BE CAREFUL). Then they should go ahead and get stuck in. Be patient though as it may take a few go’s. Keep feeding the milk too as a supplement, if you think of mum, she would still let the kittens suckle at this point so just do the same. Give small drinks of water, again put the water on your finger, they will lick it off, and then guide them to the saucer where the water is. They will soon get the hang of it.
