You can water your violets and streptocarpus a number of ways. The first and easiest way is to “water from the top”. Here water is applied to the top of your plant’s soil. The water will run through the soil and run out of the holes in the bottom of the pot. After you have watered your plant wait about five minutes for the excess water to run out of the pot and into the saucer that the plant is sitting on. Then empty the plant’s saucer so that the plant is not sitting in any water. If the plant is allowed to sit in a saucer of water for too long root rot can start. Use warm water so that water spots are not created on the leaves. If water is accidentally dripped on the crown of the plant or its leaves, just carefully wipe it up with a towel.
