How Do I Use UMF rated Active Manuka Honey?
For external use on ulcers Apply Active Manuka honey direct onto the wound with a spoon or knife, and cover with a dressing that covers the wound and any inflamed area around it. In some cases it may be easier to spread honey on the dressing pad than the wound as it causes less discomfort. Apply enough honey so it is not heavily diluted by the wound. It is suggested 20mls of honey can be used on a 10cm by 10cm dressing. Cover with a preferably waterproof secondary dressing to prevent honey from oozing out of the dressing. Change frequently if the wound is weeping and diluting the honey a lot. When the wound is drier, change the dressing daily. If an absorbent secondary dressing is used, adhesive tape or bandage can be used to hold the honey dressing in place. (Absorbent secondary dressings soak honey away from the wound and for this reason waterproof secondary dressings are preferred) For varicose ulcers, use pressure bandaging over the honey. For minor skin conditions, burns and acne
