AMIs hosted on Amazon EC2 use network address translation (NAT) technology. NAT technology maps an external public IP address to an internal IP address within the Amazon EC2 network. To configure the remote deploy functionality in Rational Application Developer to work with the IBM Industry Application Platform AMI, the network of the Rational Application Developer machine must be configured to account for the EC2 NAT technology.
