How Do I Use Spectrafoo with My Pro Tools System?
SpectraFoo is supported as a standalone application within OS X. There is no plug-in support at this time. We are currently in development with a plugin version of Foo, but we do not have any release information available now. Current Spectrafoo OSX license-holders will be entitled to a free update as soon as one is available. In the meantime you will need to route audio out of your system, and cable back to a physical input that SpectraFoo can access via Core Audio. The Digidesign driver will not let SpectraFoo access the DAE engine while Pro Tools is running. Therefore Spectrafoo must use a separate device/input that is Core Audio-compatible. There are some folks using HD systems who will route a mix out of the HD hardware via SPDIF, and convert to Toslink and use the optical Builtin input on Macs that have them.
