How do I use SmartFTP to transfer files to my personal web pages?
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is asimple way to transfer data from one omputer to another. You can use FTP to transfer files from your computer to the online file storage area of your Personal Web Pages. Doing so allows you to access your files on your Personal Web Pages from anywhere you have Internet access. SmartFTP is a free program that can be downloaded here. • Open SmartFTP. • In th Address field type upload.comcast.net. • In the Login and Password fields type your Comcast.net user name and password. The Port number should be 21. • Press the Enter key on your keyboard or click the green Go button . • Once connected, SmartFTP displays a split screen. The files on the left are those on your computer. The files on the right are those on your Personal Web Pages. • To upload files (transfer from your computer to Comcast’s servers), select a file on the left side and press the blue upload arrow in the middle of the split screen. • To download files (from Comcast to your local computer)
