How do I use Png images?
When you first open a png image you may be surprised to see that it doesn’t appear to be transparent at all and is on a flat “background” layer that may appear to be black. In actuality it is indeed transparent, it simply has an alpha channel mask around the image. To use the transparent image simply open the png and go to your mask control (varies by program) and choose to load the alpha channel. This will remove the background and even those odd sections that look like they are blurred. On rarte occasions a png will copy to a new image incorrectly, to fix this simply choose to “select from alpha channel” or your software’s comparable command. Alternatively you can also choose to “select from alpha channel” if you use Paint Shop Pro, then copy and paste as a new image. This is the best option on those odd occasions when the masked version doesn’t paste into an image correctly. If you prefer to save the image in a different format for your storage that’s fine, it’ll just take more room
