Sylpheed, in its default configuration, will read all messages from the pop or imap server directly, making it impossible to externally pre-filter mail messages. It also stores messages in MH format, which is not (yet) supported by ASK. To make Sylpheed work with ASK, the following tools are required: • procmail • fetchmail • nhm • Sylpheed (duh!) • any MTA Note that most Linux distributions come with most of these installed already. If not, make sure you have the required packages installed before we proceed. The steps to make integrate Sylpheed with ASK are given below: • On Sylpheed, access the CONFIGURATION/PREFERENCES FOR CURRENT ACCOUNT screen. Change PROTOCOL to NONE (LOCAL). Set your SMTP server to an appropriate value, or just leave it as it is. Next, access the CONFIGURATION/COMMON PREFERENCES screen.
