How do i use a fishing reel?

If it is a closed reel (can’t see the fishing line), to cast: you hold down the button with your thumb and release it as you fling the rod with your wrist. Then, turn the handle a bit to set the reel, and you’re ready to reel. If it is an open reel (see the string), to cast: you flip the metal band over to the other side of the reel. Then, you hold the string with your finger against the rod when you cast and release the string at the right moment. Once you’ve cast, you flip the metal band back where it was. Now, you can reel it in. There is a drag setting on most reels. If you set it loose, you can pull string from the reel easily. If you set it tight, you can’t pull any string from the reel. This lets the fish run with the line a bit – however much you want – a lot or a little.
