How do I upgrade a laptop CPU?
Access the Laptop’s InteriorPut on a grounding strap and attach the other end to a grounded piece of metal. Turn your laptop off, unplug it and remove the battery. This usually requires unlocking a release switch near the battery. Check under your computer for a panel fastened with screws. Unscrew and remove the panel. If your computer does not have this panel, it should provide access through the keyboard. Remove any screws or panels holding your keyboard in place. Then, lift it out of its housing. Consult your manual if you cannot determine how the keyboard is secured.Replace the ProcessorLocate the heat sink. It will consist of a fan with a bar than runs to a plate. The processor will be under the plate. Unplug, unscrew and remove the heat sink. Clean the side of the plate that touches the processor with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.
