The currently distributed versions of Sophos for Windows XP, MacOS/X, and Linux/Intel update completely automatically directly from the Sophos web-site. Versions for other platforms need to be manually updated. Some colleges and departments have set up local systems for automatically updating the Sophos installations on their members’ machines. For Sophos users who need to update their systems manually: • Full monthly updates for Sophos can be obtained on CD from the OUCS Shop at a cost of one pound. You can also download the software from our web pages at https://register.oucs.ox.ac.uk/software/ • Interim (IDE file) updates for new viruses can be downloaded from, without restriction, from the Sophos web page at http://www.sophos.com/downloads/ide/. For information on how to install new IDE files, see the “How to use” link on the Sophos web page. • You can semi-automate the downloading of IDE file updates using a utility such as UpdateSophos.
