How do I unzip a self-extracting file received by E-mail or on disk?
Occasionally, files that are sent via E-mail or on disk are self-extracting. This means that the file will unzip and install itself following different process than a non-self extracting file. The following instructions will run you through the steps that must be followed to assure that the files are installed correctly and into the correct drive. When you receive a file that requires unzipping, it will have an extension of ZIP (Ex. chaps.zip) Simply double click on the filename and the unzip process will begin. If the file is self-extracting, the first message will look similar to the one below. Click on OK to proceed with the unzipping process. WinZip will then open a screen that will look similar to the one below. In the Unzip to folder field, fill in the location where your CHAPS files are located.
