The blower forces warm air through a duct system while air grilles collect the return air and directs it to the furnace unit. The thermostat has the job of regulating the temperature and will turn the HVAC unit on and off as needed. With the basics out of the way here is the process to do a quick do it yourself troubleshooting session: 1) Check that the unit cools properly by changing the temperature on the thermostat to a level below the current room temperature. Verify that the unit is emitting cold air through the air vents.
