At 18″x24″ bake them if you can. If not, go to the hardware store and get a hand held heat gun, this will essentially flash cure the oil and stabilize it for transport. You’re also going to want to build a horizontal “flat file” that you can put in the back of a hatchback or truck, you simply can not transport wet oils vertically without destroying them. They’re going to rub. On a flat file, they may slide left to right, but they’re not going to damage the surface (as long as you’re not driving like a maniac). You can buy 1/4″ birch and depending on your canvas sizes, the 1×1 untreated pine works well for 1/2″ frames… you should be able to easily fit 6 shelves (or twelve) in the bed of a pick-up. A cheap-o hinge/latch or cargo strap will keep them from sliding out. You can use left overs to ‘tension bind’ them in place if you’ve got some distance to cover on crappy roads.
