How do I translate the CDA document replacement semantics into XDS?
We have two parallel architectures/environments for encoding document relationships. They have almost identical semantics. CDA defines a document format which includes semantics for document relationships. CDA defines a document format that is independent of infrastructure. It defines types of relationships, which XDS uses and it defines a mechanism for ‘pointers’ between documents. These two combined form a document relationship. XDS has the same semantics but of course must implement the semantics in the environment of ebXML Registry. So, to answer your question. The CDA semantics start from the point of view of a document declaring the relationship it has, if any, with a parent document using parentDocument.Id and relatedDocument.typeCode.
