How do I transition from finance to international development (ngo/npo)?

If you wish to stay in the finance end of things you would have a lot to offer an international NPO/NGO working in development. Of course financial rules and governance are different so it would be wise to take a course in non-profit accounting rules and structure. If you are looking for another type of position on an international development NGO, you still have a lot to offer with a finance background. If you have done a lot of international volunteer work or assisted with such groups that is a great asset, and if you haven’t – start now! That is a wonderful way “in” and a wonderful way to find out if that is where your heart is truly at for your future passion. Good luck!
